Montgomery “Monty” Bannerman, CEO
Monty is a veteran technology executive who has been introducing advanced, mission-critical distributed power and communications systems, facilities and networks into deregulating domestic and international markets throughout his 30+ year career. His technology and market experience spans from technology design, engineering and manufacturing to the development and execution of market strategies for deployment and operation of many of the most advanced and disruptive technologies.
Monty’s career background includes over 15 years in senior management with leading global infrastructure management consulting, engineering and project management arm of BCE (NASDAQ: BCE) and subsequent positions as CTO, President and CEO of public and private companies involved in large-scale power and communications infrastructure serving government, military, commercial and industrial applications. Monty is a co-founder and Director of ArcStar Energy, where he served as CEO until founding MicroGrid Networks in early 2017. He is a graduate of Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology in Canada and post-graduate studies at Bell Laboratories.
Tim Dumbleton, COO
Tim is the Chief Operating Officer at MGN and has 20+ years of experience in design + construction, primarily with large projects in New York City. His experience includes built work in excess of $1B in hard costs and has been on the ownership side of $200M of NYC development.
Tim is responsible for MGN’s relationships with strategic real estate developers, owners and operators and the design and development of the energy facilities we integrate and operate in partnership with them on their lands. Tim’s deep experience in the design, development, permitting, finance and construction of complex real estate projects in New York City is central to our objective of being the partner of choice for energy service project in NYC.
Prior to joining MGN, Tim owned and operated TADA, a Design + Development office in NYC where he served as principal in a dozen real estate developments in residential & commercial properties. Tim also served as Design Director for Young Woo & Associates and was Managing Partner of TEN Arquitectos in New York and Mexico City (5 Years). Tim has a MArch Degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a BA from University of Pennsylvania. He is a licensed architect in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas and is NCARB Certified.
Charles “Chick” Wassell, General Council
Charles is MGI’s General Counsel and key member of our finance team. He is a former Senior Partner of several major international law firms with deep experience in international finance and risk management in the power, telecommunications and transportation infrastructure sectors. Charles also served as the General Counsel and head of the Risk Management Department of PLM International, one of the largest U.S. leasing companies with global operations and is a co-founder and Managing Partner of ArcStar Energy, a company which has been providing market penetration, project acquisition and managed development services to global renewable developers, equipment manufacturers and energy infrastructure investors throughout the Americas since 2008. He is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Stanford University Graduate School of Engineering and Georgetown University School of Law.
Tom Hakel, CFO
Tom is MGI’s Chief Financial Officer and has been successfully founding, funding, growing, restructuring, advising, merging and selling companies in the energy and telecommunications technology, financial services sectors for over 20 years. Tom’s foundational business skills are the financing, valuation and management of fast-growing technology companies.
Tom worked in the financial services consulting practice of KPMG Peat Marwick in San Francisco, and also practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. Tom is a graduate of Sonoma State University with a degree in Computer Science.
Allen Draa is MGN’s VP of Engineering and a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in creating, marketing and implementing advanced technology, telecommunications and power systems. Allen’s past experience includes serving as COO of national systems integration firm where he led system development and project management teams in more than 10,000 site installation projects involving complex telecommunications technologies and related power systems. Allen has also served in executive positions with advanced technology manufacturers and renewable energy service providers. Allen has a degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech.
